LIGHTPHERE
Three large-format light sources create an intense immaterial sphere into which the visitor enters as contrasting matter.
- The PICTURE (6m x 3m) was used as a spatial tangent.
- The OBJECT (spherical shape 2m in diameter) defines the center of the space.
- The CEILING (circular shape 10m diameter) opens the visual space boundary.
All three components are backlit by an extensive RGB lighting system. Through the synchronous control of the three systems, complex color constellations are possible: from the intensive unicolored penetration of the entire room, to minimalist deviations in the color gradation, to the deliberate setting of contrasts. Fiberglass structures the luminous surface of the KUGEL - on closer inspection a dense chaotic network of fine lines. This net structure was extremely enlarged for the LIGHT IMAGE and realized as a three-dimensionalized print on a semi-transparent membrane. Seven GLASS STYLES continue this net in a negative print and offer the visitor associative paths to the most diverse current fields of application of the Doppler effect.
"Listen to the cosmic background radiation, see color spectra of alien galaxies and feel the vibrations of the sun! Through your movements in the room, you yourself become part of the Doppler foyer and play with audible, visible, perceptible frequency shifts."
SOUNDPAGE
Plastic, three-dimensional sound structures are projected into the Doppler foyer, overcoming the physical boundaries of the real architectural space. This is done with the help of specially developed technology:
- GLASSTELEN are equipped with "exciters" and form the acoustic frame of the space. Here, a dense, delicately interwoven acoustic field is heard, which detaches itself from its sound sources and spreads out in the room. They are tuned frequency spectra, detected from the cosmic background radiation.
- The BALL OBJECT in the center of the room becomes a large membrane loudspeaker by means of a bass shaker and exciter, which generates perceptible vibrations on the surface of the sphere.
- The LIGHT DECK is transformed into a homogeneous, dense sound surface by four tweeter horns.
- The LIGHTWALL fills the room with sub-frequencies and sets its printed membrane into delicate vibration. All sound layers are fed by the same basic material, which they play independently at different times. They are minimalist sound structures that define the overall character of the space together with the sphere of light:
OUTER SPACE - NOT OF THIS WORLD
Every "guest" in this other aesthetic world causes other reactions of the form-, light- and sound-giving elements: Through position and movement in the space, people change their individual field of perception: everyone hears, sees and feels different(s). OUTER SPACE was a co-production with GTT and Checkpointmedia AG, the multimedia general contractor of Hangar-7.
